Operating a tractor-towed hooklift system or heavy trailer requires absolute precision. To maximise safety and efficiency during container handling, Metsjö offers an advanced radio-controlled hydraulic system with proportional control and LS-only connections to the tractor.

By moving control from the cab to a wireless radio transmitter, the operator gains full visibility of the working area, reducing the risk of damage and increasing precision in every movement.

Why proportional radio control is essential

During container exchange, “on/off” movements are the enemy of both equipment and safety. Metsjö’s system is fully proportional, meaning movement speed directly follows joystick or button input.

Our radio control system is designed for heavy-duty applications and high-performance hydraulics. Communication between tractor and trailer is wireless via a robust radio transmitter, supplied complete with charging cable and holder.

Please inform Metsjö if the trailer will be operated behind, for example, a wheel loader, as the system must then be supplied in 24V.

Standard functions included

Metsjö’s radio control system is supplied with proportionally controlled valves for the most critical functions. Load-holding (over-centre) valves are also included as standard to ensure smooth and safe movements even under maximum load.

• Tipping and container exchange: Proportional control for smooth operation

• Sliding tower (telescoping): Includes switching between tipping and exchange (tower fully retracted)

• Rear hydraulic outlets: For example hydraulic tailgate (approx. 60 l/min)

• Chassis levelling: Independent left/right height adjustment (side levelling)

• Bogie lift & steering lock: Easy control of axle lift and steering axle lock directly via radio

• Rear safety support bar (available with automated function)

• All standard functions are integrated into the radio controller
