Metsjö Forage Harvester Wagons: Precision Technology for Optimal grass Fodder Quality

Metsjö is setting a new standard for grass harvesting by combining our flexible transport solutions with the market's most precise forage harvesting technology. Through the "Upper Cut" system and advanced material handling, we create the ideal conditions for a world-class ensiling process.

Choosing a forage harvester wagon from Metsjö over a traditional loader wagon makes a significant difference in the final result. Our harvesters deliver a more precise, better mixed, and more uniform cut. This allows the material to be packed more densely in the silo with less trapped air, which accelerates the fermentation process and maximizes silo storage space. Additionally, our wagon roofs are equipped with strategically placed ventilation holes to ensure that even the finest material is collected, reducing fodder waste to an absolute minimum.

"Upper Cut" – Efficiency in Every Swath

Our technology is based on the Upper Cut principle, meaning the material is fed directly into the chopping drum. This provides several technical advantages:

  • Reduced Friction: Results in lower power requirements and decreased fuel consumption.

  • Improved Blow: Creates a powerful discharge that fills the wagon effectively, even in challenging conditions.

  • High Capacity: The system is engineered to maintain a high pace without compromising the quality of the cut.

Two Models for Different Needs

Depending on the size of the operation and capacity requirements, we offer two primary models. Both come equipped with a metal detector and reversing functionality as standard for maximum operational safety. The harvesters can also discharge to a side-running wagon and can be fitted with alternative chutes.

Hack 1060: The Reliable Workhorse

The 1060 model is designed to straddle the swath, making the unit slightly longer but very stable. It is an excellent choice for farmers seeking precise cut quality in a compact format.

  • Theoretical Cut Length: 8 – 16 – (32) mm.

Hack 1460 ROC: The Capacity King

For professional users with high demands on speed, the 1460 ROC is the premier choice. Instead of straddling the swath, it picks up the material from the side using a high-quality ROC belt, which ensures minimal material loss.

  • Gentle Handling: The belt provides a smoother and cleaner flow of material.

  • Extreme Capacity: In normal operating conditions, the 1460 ROC fills a 62-cubic-meter wagon in just 12–14 minutes.

  • Low Maintenance: The construction is built for minimal service requirements despite high workloads.

  • Theoretical Cut Length: 6 – 8 – 12 – 16 – (32) mm.

Total Economy Through Flexibility

What makes the Metsjö forage harvester wagon unique is the combination of chopping precision and wagon versatility. Thanks to Metsjö’s modular system, the wagon behind the harvester can easily be detached for other uses, or the body can be swapped (on wagons without a floor belt). A hooklift system can also be mounted behind the harvester, enabling, for example, combination hauling with trucks if there are long distances between fields.

This ensures your investment works year-round—from silage harvesting to dumper work and grain transport. We call this smart capital utilization.
