Metsjö introduces EU type approval for tractor trailers and hooklift trailers – approved for 40 and 60 km/h

Ivarssons i Metsjö AB now offers EU type approval (Category R) for its range of tractor-drawn trailers and hooklift trailers, including the MetaQ, MetaFlex and MetaK series. The approval covers both 40 km/h and 60 km/h, enabling higher transport speeds, increased productivity and full regulatory compliance across Europe, while also simplifying registration and cross-border use within the EU.

Approval for 60 km/h remains rare in this segment and positions Metsjö among a limited number of manufacturers offering high-speed agricultural transport solutions without compromising safety.

The EU type approval is available as an optional feature, allowing each trailer to be configured according to local regulations and operational requirements.

Built for safety and high-speed transport

All EU-approved Metsjö trailers are equipped with:

• ABS braking system
• Load-sensing air brakes
• Intelligent Trailer Safety system with RSS (Roll Stability Support)
• Side marker lights with integrated indicators as standard

These systems ensure a high level of safety, stability and visibility – even at increased transport speeds.

Engineered for flexibility and European compatibility

Metsjö combines a high level of customer-specific configuration with a well-developed platform designed for European compatibility. This allows operators to tailor their equipment while maintaining compliance across different markets.

The product range includes 2-, 3- and 4-axle trailers, with tyre configurations from 455/40 22.5 up to 710/50R 30.5 and 800/45R 30.5, ensuring optimal performance in both field and road conditions.

EU type-approved configurations are available for maximum laden masses of up to 44 tonnes (4-axle trailer) and transport volumes of up to 60 cubic metres, depending on local regulation, supporting high-capacity, long-distance transport with fewer trips and improved overall efficiency.

Metsjö trailers are also characterized by exceptionally low tare weight. For example, a 4-axle hooklift trailer weighs approximately 6 tonnes, enabling a payload of up to 38 tonnes within legal limits – maximizing transport efficiency per trip.

Proven efficiency and reduced soil impact

Independent studies confirm measurable operational benefits of Metsjös trailers:

• Up to 25% lower fuel consumption compared to conventional trailers
• Around 50% lower ground pressure, even at significantly higher load capacity

These results are achieved through optimized weight distribution, laser-aligned axles, large tyre configurations and low tare weight – contributing to lower operating costs, improved efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
